Who We Are When We Are Here
A SPIRITUAL CULTURE & MEMBERSHIP COVENANT FOR UNITY VANCOUVER ISLAND
Unity is more than a set of teachings; it is a way of being together. When we gather, we are shaping a shared field of consciousness. We are not simply attending a Sunday service— we are co-creating a spiritual culture. Therefore, membership is not primarily a legal status, but a sacred participation. A good spiritual question for us is: “Who are we when we are here?”
The following practices describe the spirit we aim to embody together.
THE TWELVE SPIRITUAL PRACTICES OF OUR COMMUNITY
1. We remember the Presence.
We gather in the awareness that Goodness is here and now, expressing through each of us.
2. We choose love as our way.
Compassion, kindness, and goodwill guide our interactions.
3. We honour the Divine in every person.
We look beyond differences and affirm sacred worth.
4. We take responsibility for our consciousness.
We practice principle rather than blame, reactivity, or victimhood.
5. We speak life.
Our words aim to heal and bless. We refrain from gossip and unnecessary harm.
6. We practice generosity.
We give of our time, talent, and treasure in gratitude and shared purpose.
7. We commit to spiritual growth.
Through prayer, meditation, study, and service, we live an examined life.
8. We serve the highest good.
We ask not only what benefits us, but what advances Love and Truth.
9. We practice what we teach.
Demonstration matters more than theory.
10. We walk in accountability and grace.
We support one another with honesty, humility, and forgiveness.
11. We welcome all sincere seekers.
We cultivate a radically inclusive spiritual home.
12. We become what we practice.
Together we are shaping a consciousness that blesses the world.
